Computed Tomography CT

Computed Tomography (CT) is an imaging exam that outputs cross-sectional computerized images images. CT is most often used to evaluate problems in the sinuses, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

During the exam, you usually lie flat on your back, side or stomach depending on the exam. The table moves quickly through the scanner, determining correct position. Then the table will move slowing through the machine during the actual exam. Depending on the exam, you may be asked to hold your breath. When completed, you will be asked to wait while your technologist reviews the images for quality.

After the exam, your images will be reviewed by the radiologist, who will create a report that is sent to your physician. Your reported results will be given to you by the physician who ordered your exam. In the event, there is any type of abnormality that needs immediate attention, the staff will contact your physician directly to bring thus matter to their immediate attention.

Additionally information about CT exams in general or a specific exam can be accessed at www.RadiologyInfo.org.
